Care & Safety

Your piece is built to last. Here's how to keep it that way.

Cleaning

  • Wipe glass with a damp lint-free cloth
  • Dry immediately, don't let water sit on solder lines
  • No abrasive cleaners, no ammonia-based products
  • Window cleaner is fine on the glass; avoid the solder lines

Hanging

  • Always use the provided ring or chain, do not improvise
  • Use a proper hook rated for the piece weight
  • Suncatchers: use suction cup hooks or window hooks
  • Hang away from high-traffic areas where it may be bumped

Sunlight

  • Stained glass is made for sunlight, let it shine
  • Avoid direct heat sources beneath the piece
  • Extreme thermal shock is not ideal for any glass piece

Handling

  • Handle by the frame or edges, not by glass surface
  • Transport wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap
  • Don't let pieces knock together, treat it like the art it is

Lead & Copper Safety

All finished pieces are sealed with patina and polish. Wash hands after handling, especially before eating. Keep out of reach of small children and pets. These are decorative art objects, not toys.

Outdoor Use

Most pieces are designed for indoor use. A covered porch with indirect exposure is usually fine. Full outdoor exposure is a different design conversation, mention it when commissioning and Michael will build for it.

Getting It To You

Shipping & Packaging

Wrapped like it matters. Because it does.

Every Nashterpiece is packed with the care of someone who made the thing with their own hands and is extremely invested in it arriving in one piece.

Larger panels are double-boxed with foam inserts cut to fit. Suncatchers are individually bubble-wrapped, layered, and packed rigid. Gift sets are presented in kraft-and-tissue packaging that makes them look as good on arrival as they do on the wall.

If your piece arrives damaged, contact Michael immediately with photographs. Every piece is packed to survive the postal service, but Michael will make it right if something goes wrong.

  • Ships To: Contact Michael to discuss
  • Turnaround: Ready-made: ships within 5–7 business days. Custom: discussed with Michael directly after design approval.
  • Tracking: All shipments include tracking. You'll receive your number when the piece ships.
  • Fragile: Yes, obviously. Labelled accordingly.

A Note on Handmade Pieces

These are not mass-produced items. Every piece is unique. Slight variations in colour, texture, and solder line width are not imperfections, they are evidence that a real human being made this specific object with care.

If your piece looks slightly different from the listing photo, that's not an error. That's the point. You're getting a one-of-a-kind Nashterpiece. No algorithm was involved.

Good Questions

Frequently Asked

Pricing is not publicly listed and depends on the piece. Michael discusses pricing directly. Send him a message on Instagram (@nashterpiece_art) or Facebook (Kiss My Glass Art Studio) with what you have in mind and he will give you a proper quote. No surprises.

Turnaround is discussed directly with Michael based on current workload and the complexity of your piece. Mention any deadlines upfront and he will tell you honestly whether it is achievable. If you have a deadline, mention it upfront, Michael will let you know if it's achievable, and will always be honest if it isn't.

Shipping is discussed directly with Michael. Message him on Instagram or Facebook with your location and he will let you know what is possible. Each piece is packed with extreme care. Fragile stickers are applied liberally and without shame.

Yes, that's exactly what commissions are for. Have a specific window to fill? An odd shape you love? A colour palette you're working with? Bring it. Michael has worked with all of them. The weirder the brief, the more fun it usually is.

Contact Michael right away with photos of the piece and the packaging. Every shipment is packed to survive rough handling, but accidents happen. Michael will work with you to resolve it. This is the kind of thing he takes seriously.

With conditions. A covered porch with indirect exposure? Usually fine. Mounted directly on an exposed exterior wall in all weather? That's a different design conversation. If you want outdoor-durable, say so when commissioning, Michael can make choices that improve longevity. Most standard pieces are designed for indoor use.

Suncatchers come with a ring or chain, use a proper window hook or suction cup hook rated for the weight. Panels come with hanging hardware. Instructions are included with every piece. If something isn't clear, email Michael and he'll tell you exactly what to do.

Yes, for Nashterpiece pieces, and sometimes for pieces made by others, depending on the work involved. Send photos first so Michael can assess whether repair is feasible and what it would involve. Don't try to fix it yourself with superglue. That never ends well.

Real stained glass (not acrylic, not glass paint, actual coloured glass), copper foil or lead came, 60/40 solder, black or copper patina, and a finishing polish. Hanging hardware is soldered into the piece or provided as rings and chains. No shortcuts, no substitutions.

As decorative art hung on walls or windows, yes. All finished pieces are sealed with patina and polish. Basic precautions apply: wash hands after handling, don't hand a stained glass suncatcher to a toddler. These are art objects, not toys, treat them accordingly and they're perfectly safe.
